Timeline of Establishment & Development:
  • On April 15, 1993, ABBANK was granted Banking License No. 0031/NH-GP by the State Bank, which was renewed under License No. 120/GP-NHNN dated December 12, 2018 (updated and amended the content of charter capital according to Decision No. 2137/QD-NHNN dated October 16, 2019 and amended the content of headquarters address according to Decision No. 2575/QD-NHNN dated December 13, 2019 of the State Bank of Vietnam)
  • On May 13, 1993, An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank was established in the form of a joint stock commercial bank under the Company Establishment License No. 535/GP-UB issued by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City (with the original name An Binh Rural Commercial Joint Stock Bank) with a charter capital of 1 billion VND;
  • On October 4, 2007, ABBANK received approval from the State Securities Commission (SSC) to register as a public company according to Official Dispatch No. 758/UBCK-QLPH of the State Securities Commission;
  • 2004: From a rural joint stock commercial bank, ABBANK was upgraded to an urban scale bank. ABBANK has increased its charter capital to 70.04 billion VND;
  • Year 2005: With the entry of domestic strategic shareholders including Vietnam Electricity Corporation (“EVN”) and major shareholder Hanoi General Import-Export Joint Stock Company (now “Geleximco Group – Joint Stock Company”). ABBANK's charter capital reached 165 billion VND;
  • 2008: Malayan Banking Berhad (“Maybank”) officially became a foreign strategic shareholder of ABBANK with a 15% share ownership ratio. ABBANK increased charter capital to 2,705 billion VND;
  • 2009: Maybank increased its share ownership ratio in ABBANK from 15% to 20%;
  • 2010: ABBANK successfully issued convertible bonds with a total par value of 600 billion VND to the International Finance Corporation (“IFC”) and Maybank;
  • 2013: IFC officially became a major shareholder, owning 10% of ABBANK's charter capital. Maybank maintains 20% ownership, continuing to play the role of strategic shareholder of ABBANK;
  • On December 17, 2020, ABBANK was granted Securities Registration Certificate No. 78/2020/GCNCP-VSD by the Vietnam Securities Depository Center (VSD), with a total number of registered shares of 571,311,355 shares.
