Establishment History

• 1957: Established as Vietnam Construction Bank, directly under the Ministry of Finance, 100% State-owned
• 1981: Renamed Vietnam Bank for Investment and Construction (under the State Bank)
• 1990: Changed name to Vietnam Bank for Investment and Development
• 1992: Started operating with foreign partners
• 1995: Switched to operate as a commercial bank
• 1996: Being the first commercial bank in Vietnam to audit financial statements according to 2 Vietnamese and international standards, and apply continuously until now (15 years)
• 2001: First commercial bank in Vietnam to receive ISO 9001:2000 certificate
• 2001 - 2006 Implementing the bank restructuring project
• 2006: Being the first bank in Vietnam to hire the international rating agency Moody's to perform BIDV's credit rating and the rating indicators all reached the national ceiling
• 2008 Transforming the organizational model according to the technical support project phase 2
• 2011 Transforming the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam from a state-owned enterprise into a State-owned One-Member Limited Liability Company and conducting equitization
• May 1, 2012, Equitized, converted into Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam.
• January 24, 2014, Listed shares on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.
• May 23, 2015: Mekong Delta Housing Development Bank (MHB) was merged into the system BIDV.

Distribution network: 31% in the Northern Key Economic Region, 20% in the Southern Key Economic Region, 12% in the Mekong Delta region, 11% in the Northern Mountainous region, 9% in the North Central region, 7% in the South Central region, 6% in the Central Highlands and 3% in the Red River Delta region.
