- 1983: According to Decision No. 73/QDUB dated April 15, 1981 of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, District 5 Direct Import Export Company was established.
In the period 1983-1985, Cholimex Seafood and Food Export Processing Enterprise (Cholimexfood) - thành viên trong hệ thống công ty Cholimex mainly produces for export, accounting for 70% of the Company's total export turnover, mainly raw processed products, frozen pre-processed seafood and some agricultural products. - 1985: Cholimexfood's board of directors began researching the production of chili sauce, and some frozen food products: Spring rolls, shrimp paste, instant dried squid... Increase competitive advantage while promptly meeting customer demand.
- 1989: By 1989, Cholimex food asserted itself with a chili sauce product with a spicy and sweet taste, combined with the characteristic aroma of garlic, suitable for the taste of Vietnamese consumers. However, the production level is still outdated, the equipment is manual, grinding with a stone mortar, filling with a hand scoop.
- 1992: By 1992 Cholimexfood was equipped with the most advanced chili grinding equipment at that time imported from Switzerland with the budget of District 5 People's Committee, increasing processing capacity from a few thousand bottles/day to about 30,000 bottles/day, during this period chili sauce Cholimex has begun to be famous for not only domestic consumption but also exporting to Eastern European countries through the business network of Vietnamese people studying and labor cooperation, most of which are exported to the Russian Federation, Poland, Ukraine... monthly exports up to 25-30 20ft containers
- 1994: In 1994, 1999: In order to implement the policy of industrialization, in 1999 the factory of Cholimex Export Food and Seafood Processing Enterprise broke ground on an area of nearly 4 hectares in Vinh Loc industrial park.
- 2002: Cholimex seafood and food export processing enterprise thoroughly implemented three programs at the same time: Restructuring the human resources organizational system, computerizing operations and building an ISO 9001:2000 quality management system. In 2002, the entire factory moved to Vinh Loc industrial park with a completely invested new factory, opening a new era for Cholimexfood. At the end of 2002, the Enterprise was certified to meet ISO 9001:2000 quality management standards, immediately after receiving a certificate of meeting food safety conditions for export to the European Union (EU). In addition, the Company also developed HALAL standards for Muslim countries and Kosher for Jews to diversify export markets. The system of product consumption agents has been consolidated and expanded nationwide, the strongest in the south central region and beyond. The export market has been developed with the strategy of producing refined frozen foods with high added value for the EU market, limiting the production and processing of semi-processed seafood products. The market and product orientation during this period, along with efforts to reform and restructure the business, created the foundation for Cholimexfood's outstanding development in the following years and to this day.
- 2006: In 2006 Cholimexfood received shares. On July 19, 2006, the Company officially operated with the new name Cholimex Food Joint Stock Company. After 6 years of equitization, revenue in 2012 was 668.12 billion VND (of which export revenue was 220.12 billion VND and domestic market revenue was 448 billion VND) compared to 134.64 billion VND in 2007 (of which export revenue was 48.64 billion VND and domestic market revenue was 86 billion VND), an increase of 500%. Profit after tax reached 34.5 billion VND, an increase of 690% compared to 2007 (5.01 billion VND).
- 2009: The Year 2009 marked Cholimexfood entering the sauce market by launching soy sauce products. Huong Viet Soy Sauce is produced through strict screening standards, ensuring no 3-MCPD, these factors create the purest Huong Viet Soy Sauce, naturally delicious and good for health. Currently, the average consumption is about 2,000,000 bottles/month.
- 2012: Continuing the success of the soy sauce product line, a fish sauce factory was built on the campus of Cholimexfood company. Huong Viet fish sauce products launched on the market contribute to diversifying products and meeting customer needs.
It can be affirmed that the completion and putting into full operation of the two soy sauce and fish sauce processing factories is the crystallization of the intelligence, sweat, creativity and working spirit, enthusiastic labor to surpass oneself of the Board of Directors and Employees of the company with the goal of developing the Cholimex brand to become one of the leading enterprises in Vietnam in the spice and sauce production and business industry.
