Establishment History:

  • Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), formerly known as Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade, was established under the name Vietnam Specialized Bank for Industry and Trade under Decree No. 53/ND-HDBT dated March 26, 1988 of the Council of Ministers on the organization of the SBV's apparatus and was officially renamed "Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade" according to Decision No. 402/CT of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers dated November 14, 1990.
  • On March 27, 1993, the Governor of the State Bank signed Decision No. 67/QD-NH5 on the establishment of Incombank under the State Bank of Vietnam. On September 21, 1996, authorized by the Prime Minister, the Governor of the State Bank signed Decision No. 285/QD-NH5 on the re-establishment of Vietcombank according to the State Corporation model specified in Decision No. 90/QD-TTg dated March 7, 1994 of the Prime Minister.
  • On September 23, 2008, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed Decision 1354/QD-TTg approving the equitization plan of Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade. On November 2, 2008, the State Bank signed Decision No. 2604/QD-NHNN on announcing the enterprise value of Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade.
  • On December 25, 2008, the Industrial and Commercial Bank successfully organized a public share auction and converted into a joint stock enterprise. On July 3, 2009, the State Bank signed Decision No. 14/GP-NHNN to establish and operate Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade.
