Timeline of Establishment & Development:
- On February 18, 1959, the Government of Vietnam signed with the Government of China an agreement on China helping Vietnam build a fertilizer plant. This is a gift that symbolizes the friendship of the Party and people of China with the people of Vietnam.
- In early 1960, Vietnam's first nitrogen fertilizer factory was started to be built on a 40ha plot of land in Tho Xuong commune, 1km north of Bac Giang town (now in Tho Xuong ward, Bac Giang city, Bac Giang province). After 5 years of construction, the factory has been formed with a total of 130 projects. On February 3, 1965, the Thermal Power Workshop was inaugurated. On May 19, 1965, the Gas Generation Workshop successfully gasified coal (produced coal gas as raw material for ammonia production). On June 1, 1965, the Mechanical Workshop went into operation. However, the US imperialist's war of sabotage left it unfinished and extended the first production date of nitrogen bags to 10 years later. To protect the lives of workers and State property, the Government decided to suspend the factory's production. Thermal Power Workshop was transformed into Ha Bac Thermal Power Plant, focusing on production to serve the economy and national defense. The Mechanical Workshop was converted into the Ha Bac Chemical Mechanical Factory and was evacuated to Lang Giang and produced according to wartime tasks. Khu Hoa dismantled the equipment and brought it back to China.
- During the two destructive wars, US aircraft attacked the Power Plant 52 times with thousands of tons of bombs and ammunition. The factory's self-defense participated in 63 battles, contributing to shooting down an American plane and wounding several others.
- In early 1973, the factory was restored and expanded. On May 1, 1975, the Government merged the Ha Bac Power Plant, the Ha Bac Chemical Mechanical Factory and the Chemical workshops to establish the Ha Bac Fertilizer Factory. On December 12, 1975, the first nitrogen bag branded Golden Rice was produced. On October 30, 1977, Deputy Prime Minister Do Muoi cut the ribbon to inaugurate Ha Bac Fertilizer Factory, the first child of Vietnam's nitrogen production industry.
- In 1976-1983, production faced many difficulties, output in 1981 only reached 9,000 tons of urea, equal to 9% of design capacity. On January 17, 1983, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers issued Directive 19-CP to maintain and promote production of Ha Bac Fertilizer Factory.
- On October 10, 1988, the factory changed its name to Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemical Integrated Enterprise.
- On February 13, 1993, the name was changed to Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemical Company.
- On October 20, 2006, it was converted into Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemicals One Member Limited Liability Company.
- During the development process, the Company has received the attention of the highest leaders of the Party and State. Comrades General Secretary of the Party Central Committee Nguyen Van Linh, Do Muoi, Nong Duc Manh, President Le Duc Anh, Tran Duc Luong visited and worked at the Company.
- The company was converted into Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemical Joint Stock Company according to Business Registration Certificate No. 2400120344 issued by the Department of Planning and Investment of Bac Giang province, changed for the 12th time on January 1, 2016.
