Gia Lam Urban Environment Enterprise was formerly a sanitation team of 9 people under the Gia Lam public works department (a total of 12 people) established in December 1971. To meet the needs of socio-economic development and urban services, on August 4, 1994, Hanoi People's Committee issued Decision 1547/QD-UB to establish Gia Lam Urban Environment Enterprise. - The first unit to do environmental sanitation work in 5 districts at seven o'clock (Gia Lam, Thanh Tri, Tu Liem, Soc Son, Dong Anh). The assigned tasks are to maintain street hygiene, collect, transport and treat household waste, maintain drainage, manage and maintain lighting systems, plant and prune trees,... contributing to beautifying the environmental landscape in Gia Lam and Long Bien districts;
According to the development of the economy, on May 3, 2013, Hanoi People's Committee issued decision No. 2878/QD-UBND on merging 5 Urban Environment Enterprises: Gia Lam, Tu Liem, Thanh Tri, Soc Son and Dong Anh into Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited to prepare for the process of equitization of Urban Environment Enterprises. At that time, Gia Lam District Urban Environment Enterprise (which later became Gia Lam Urban Environment Joint Stock Company) was transformed into Gia Lam Urban Environment Enterprise Branch under Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited.
Organized the General Meeting of Shareholders to establish Gia Lam Urban Environment Joint Stock Company on May 25, 2016. Comrade Nguyen Huy Nam - Director of Gia Lam Urban Environment Enterprise Branch of Hanoi Urban Environment Company Limited was authorized by the Equitization Steering Committee of Gia Lam Urban Environment Enterprise to chair the meeting of the General Meeting of Shareholders established. After completing the procedures, on June 9, 2016, Hanoi People's Committee issued decision No. 2957/QD-UBND on converting Gia Lam Urban Environment Enterprise Branch into Gia Lam Urban Environment Joint Stock Company.
