Establishment History:
- Ho Chi Minh City Metallurgy Company, formerly the Southern Technical Materials Supply Management Organization under the Ministry of Materials, was established in 1975.
- On November 4, 1976, according to Decision No. 827/VT-QD, Southern Metal Company was renamed Regional Metal Company II.
- On January 1, 1986, Region II Metallurgical Company was renamed Ho Chi Minh City Metallurgical Company according to Decision No. 746/VT-QD.
- In 1993, according to the Decision of the Ministry of Trade, Ho Chi Minh City Metallurgy Company was a state-owned enterprise under the Metalwork Corporation of the Ministry of Trade.
- In 1994, the Metal Corporation under the Ministry of Trade was transferred to the Ministry of Industry.
- >In 2003, the Ministry of Industry decided to merge Steel and Industrial Equipment Trading Company into Ho Chi Minh City Metallurgical Company and still retain the transaction name Ho Chi Minh City Metallurgical Company under Vietnam Steel Corporation.
- In September 2005, the Company carried out equitization with a registered business capital of 158 billion VND. The company operates with full functions of a joint stock enterprise and has strengths in the field of steel distribution for civil and industrial construction projects.
- On November 28, 2006, the Chairman of the State Securities Commission issued Listing License No. 84/UBCKGPNY allowing Ho Chi Minh City Metallurgical Joint Stock Company to list shares on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.
- The company began listing with the stock code HMC on December 21, 2006 on the Ho Chi Minh City stock exchange. Consulting organization: Bao Viet Securities Joint Stock Company. Independent audit: accounting and auditing financial consulting services company (AASC).
- On May 16, 2008, the Company listed an additional 5,200,000 shares from the issuance of an additional 5.2 million shares to increase charter capital. The Company's charter capital after listing is 210 billion VND.
- 2017: Ho Chi Minh City Metal Joint Stock Company announced information about changing the Company's namety to become HO CHI MINH CITY METAL JOINT STOCK COMPANY - VNSTEEL onJanuary 17, 2017.
