- The predecessor of Petrolimex Petroleum Commercial Joint Stock Bank (“PG Bank”) is Dong Thap Muoi Rural Commercial Joint Stock Bank, officially operating under license No. 0045/NH-GP dated November 13, 1993 with an initial charter capital of 700 million VND.\
- In the early years of development, Dong Thap Muoi Rural Commercial Joint Stock Bank always had good growth and contributed greatly to the local socio-economic development process. Realizing clearly the potential and development opportunities of the Bank in particular and the Vietnamese banking and financial market in general during the country's modernization process, in July 2005, Vietnam Petroleum Corporation (Petrolimex) and Saigon Securities Joint Stock Company (SSI) participated in increasing charter capital to 90 billion VND and became major shareholders of the Bank to implement the restructuring plan and expand the scope of operations as well as Bank products and services. Experience in the fields of business and banking finance as well as the abundant financial potential of new shareholders have brought about a major change in the Bank's development goals, strategic orientation and scale of operations.
- The strategic investment commitments of major shareholders and the effective restructuring plan demonstrated through impressive business performance indicators are the premise for Dong Thap Muoi Rural Commercial Joint Stock Bank to be allowed to transform its model into an Urban Joint Stock Bank according to Decision No. 125/QD-NHNN dated January 12, 2007 of the State Bank of Vietnam, marking a new development page for the Bank.
- Along with the transformation into an Urban Bank and the participation of major shareholders with a new development strategy, on February 8, 2007, Dong Thap Muoi Rural Commercial Joint Stock Bank officially changed its name to Petrolimex Petroleum Commercial Joint Stock Bank (abbreviated as PG Bank) according to Decision No. 368/QD-NHNN of the State Bank.
- On December 18, 2009, PGBank was officially recognized by the Securities Commission to become a public company.
- On December 25, 2009, PG Bank received approval from the State Bank of Vietnam for Petrolimex Petroleum Commercial Joint Stock Bank to move its Head Office from 132-134 Nguyen Hue, Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap to Office 5, building 18T1-18T2 Trung Hoa - Nhan Chinh New Urban Area, Le Van Luong, Hanoi.
- With the approval of the State Bank, on January 5, 2012, PG Bank officially moved its Head Office to Floors 16, 23 and 24, MIPEC Building, 229 Tay Son Street, Nga Tu So Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi City.
- As of June 30, 2020, the Bank's branch network is 80 transaction points, including 1 head office and 16 branches nationwide.
- Since its establishment, the Bank has undergone eight capital increases. Currently, the Bank is operating under business registration certificate No. 1400116233 issued by the Department of Planning and Investment of Hanoi City, first registered on November 29, 1993, issued the 19th change on October 24, 2019, with the current charter capital of VND 3,000 billion.
- On November 27, 2020, the Bank was granted securities registration certificate No. 74/2020/GCNCP-VSD by the Vietnam Securities Depository Center with stock code PGB.
- Mobilizing capital: short-term, medium-term, long-term in the form of term and demand deposits, certificates of deposit, receiving investment and development capital, borrowing capital from other domestic credit institutions and foreign financial and banking institutions.
