Timeline of Establishment & Development:
- The predecessor of Phong Phu Joint Stock Corporation was Sicovina - Phong Phu Industrial Park under Vietnam Cotton Industry Company. The factory laid the first construction stone on October 14, 1964 and officially went into operation in 1966, directly managed by the former Saigon government.After liberation (April 30, 1975), the factory was renamed Phong Phu Textile Factory. The state assigned factory staff to take over and maintain production.
- In the 1980s, the factory's products were mainly labor protection fabrics and calicot delivered to the Soviet Union according to the State's plan. After that, the factory produced jeans fabric, polyester yarn and Peco yarn. During the period from 1976 - 1985, Phong Phu Textile Factory was one of the units that continuously completed and exceeded the plan targets assigned by the State, on average each year exceeding the plan by 10 - 15%.
- From 1986 to 2002, implementing the Party and State's innovation policy, Phong Phu staff and employees joined forces to bring the company to steady development, always being the leading unit in Vietnam's textile and garment industry. Products during this period, in addition to fabric and yarn, Phong Phu also developed towels, striped katé fabric, jeans fabric, and joint venture with the UK's Coats Group to produce sewing thread.
- From 2003 up to now, Phong Phu has made remarkable progress in all aspects - revenue, growth rate, profit, budget payment, taking care of the material and spiritual life of employees... Taking textile and garment as the core field, Phong Phu has gradually diversified production and business lines, expanded joint ventures, and associated with units inside and outside the textile and garment industry all over the world. Phong Phu includes many forms of capital ownership, diverse production and business lines, joint ventures with many domestic and international provinces.
- In early 2006, with the approval of the leaders of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group and the Ministry of Industry (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade), Phong Phu boldly built a project to transform its organizational structure into a Corporation operating according to the Parent Company - Subsidiary model. Based on the development requirements, scale and actual operational situation of Phong Phu, the Prime Minister has approved and implemented the project to transform the organizational structure into a Corporation.
- On January 11, 2007, the Minister of Industry issued Decision No. 06/2007/QD-BCN to establish Phong Phu Corporation. The improvement and transformation of the management organizational structure of the Corporation operates according to the Parent Company - Subsidiary model, creating a strong connection, clearly defining the rights, responsibilities in terms of capital and economic benefits between the parent company Phong Phu and its subsidiaries. Thereby, strengthening the capacity of production, marketing, supply, research, training... creates conditions for Phong Phu to develop into a strong economic unit capable of competing and integrating with the regional and world economy.
- In 2007 - 2008, the Corporation equitized and completed the conversion of production systems. Member units include One Member LLC, Joint Stock Company such as: Phong Phu Textile Joint Stock Company, Phong Phu Home Textile Joint Stock Company, Phong Phu Son Tra Investment Joint Stock Company, Phong Phu Sewing Thread Company Limited.
