Establishment History:
- Saigon Shipping Company is a state-owned enterprise established under Decision No. 189/QD-UB dated September 22, 1981 of the City People's Committee. Ho Chi Minh City is directly under the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City. According to Decree 388/HDBT dated November 20, 1991 and Decree 156/HDBT dated May 7, 1992 of the Council of Ministers, the Company was re-established under Decision: 175/QD-UB dated December 5, 1992 of the Chairman of the City People's Committee. Ho Chi Minh City with an independent accounting form with legal status and main business lines are: Transporting goods by sea at home and abroad - Shipping agents and brokers for domestic and foreign ships.
- On June 2, 1999, implementing Decision No. 3171/QD-UB-KT of the City People's Committee. Ho Chi Minh on choosing the Company for equitization. After 5 years of implementing procedures and documents according to the instructions of superior agencies, on December 9, 2004, the City People's Committee. Ho Chi Minh officially issued decision No. 6205/QD-UB on converting the state-owned enterprise Saigon Shipping Company into Saigon Shipping Joint Stock Company and the Company is a member of Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (SAMCO).
- December 9, 2004: Saigon Shipping Joint Stock Company was established under Decision No. 6205/QD-UB of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on converting the State-owned enterprise Saigon Shipping Company into Saigon Shipping Joint Stock Company.
- October 22, 2010: The first day of trading the Company's shares on the Upcom market at the Hanoi Stock Exchange with the stock code SGS.
