Establishment History:
- The predecessor of SMC Trading Investment Joint Stock Company was Construction Materials Store No. 1, established in 1988. In 1996, Construction Materials Store No. 1 was transformed into Construction Materials Production and Trading Enterprise No. 1 under Trading Construction Company 2 of the Ministry of Trade. The Enterprise has transformed into a specialized distribution unit in the field of iron and steel, affirming its market share and reputation for consumers and manufacturers
- In 2003, the SMC brand was registered for trademark certification and officially recognized under Decision 4704/QDDK issued by the Department of Industrial Property of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment on June 20, 2003
- On August 19, 2004, Construction Materials Production and Trading Enterprise No. 1 was officially transformed into SMC Trading Investment Joint Stock Company according to decision No. 1166/QDBTM.
- SMC Trading Investment Joint Stock Company was established in 2004, formerly the No. 1 construction materials production and trading enterprise. Charter capital of 60 billion VND.
- In 2006: SMC officially joined the Stock Exchange and listed at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange with stock code: SMC
- Year 2007: On June 25, 2007, SMC Phu My Company Limited was born, as the first member unit of SMC with an area of 2.3 hectares in Phu My 1 Industrial Park, Ba Ria Vung Tau.
- In 2008 : SMC received the 2nd Class Labor Medal. In May 2008, SMC completely installed and put into operation the Coil Center at SMC Phu My Company Limited, marking the first step in SMC's steel processing activities. On November 10, 2008, SMC established SMC Binh Duong Company Limited in Dong An Industrial Park - Binh Duong, with the establishment of 02 member units in 2007 and 2008, bringing the total number of SMC employees to 224 people.
- 2009: With the strategic orientation of becoming one of the largest and most professional distributors of steel products in Vietnam, SMC constantly expands its scale and production and business network. On July 3, 2009, SMC Hiep Phuoc Company Limited was born. On December 14, 2009, Steel Trading Company Limited was born.
- In 2010: SMC completed the strategic goal of 05 (years) for 2006 - 2010 with total consumption reaching 558 thousand tons, including 540 thousand tons of steel of all kinds and 18 thousand tons of cement, profit after tax reached 82 billion VND, SMC affirmed its leading position of a professional steel distributor in the Southern region.
- Year 2011: On June 10, 2011, the Steel Mechanical Factory officially went into operation with 2 systems of slitting steel plate equipment up to 16mm thick and sheet cutting equipment up to 20mm thick.
