Establishment History:
- On May 14, 1976, the Southern Seed Company was established under the General Department of Agriculture, with the task of supplying seeds to the southern provinces from Da Nang City upwards.
In 1978, the Southern Plant Seed Company was merged and became Branch 1 of the Central Plant Seed Company under the Ministry of Agriculture.
In 1981, Branch 1 of the Central Plant Seed Company was renamed Plant Seed Enterprise I, which is a dependent accounting unit under the Central Plant Seed Company. - On January 12, 1989, the enterprise was renamed Central Plant Seed Company II with independent accounting on the basis of merging Enterprise I and Red Flag Pure Rice Seed Farm (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, now the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development). In January 1993, the company was renamed Southern Seed Company, directly under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (later the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development).
- In 1997, the establishment of Hanoi Branch opened a large market in the northern provinces (especially the northwest regions) and contributed to increasing the company's annual revenue. The company became a member of the Vietnam Plant Seed Association on August 23, 2002 and a member of the Asia Pacific Plant Seed Association (APSA) on March 1, 1995.
- In 2002, the Company was transformed into SSC Southern Seed Joint Stock Company according to Decision No. 213/QDTTg dated March 25, 2002 of the Prime Minister. On July 1, 2002, the Company officially operated in the form of a joint stock company, being the first equitized enterprise and the largest charter capital of the Vietnamese seed industry.
- The company began listing with the stock code SSC on March 1, 2005 on the Ho Chi Minh City stock exchange. Consulting organization: Investment and Development Bank Securities Company Limited (BSC) Ho Chi Minh City branch. Independent audit: Saigon accounting and financial consulting and auditing company (AFC).
- The company currently has 224 employees. The company has 01 branch in Hanoi, 04 plant seed stations in Tien Giang, Binh Duong, Can Tho and Lam Dong.
- Year 2007: Issue 4,000,000 shares to increase charter capital 100,000,000,000 VND
- Year 2010: Issue an additional 4,499,427 bonus shares to existing shareholders and 492,940 preference shares to Board of Directors, BSK, staff, increased charter capital to 149,923,670,000 VND.
- Year 2012: The company was recognized as a Science and Technology Enterprise. Established Cambodia branch and Central branch.
- 2013: Establishment of Representative Office in Laos and Branch of Flower and Vegetable Seed Center – SSC
- 2014: Established Tra Vinh Processing Factory, received Third Class Independence Medal.
- 2015: Establishment of Marketing & Product Development Department, Merger of Flower and Vegetable Seed Center into Southern Plant Varieties Research Center. Establishment of GCT Tan Farm Hiep
