Establishment History:
Year 1968 - CORONEL Coffee Factory

Mr. Marcel Coronel, French nationality, and his wife, Ms. Tran Thi Khanh, started construction of CORONEL Coffee Factory in Bien Hoa Industrial Park (now Bien Hoa Industrial Park 1), Dong Nai province with the aim of minimizing the cost of transporting coffee to Vietnam. France. CORONEL Coffee Factory has a design capacity of 80 tons of instant coffee/year, with the entire machinery and equipment system imported from Germany. CORONEL Coffee Factory is proud to be the first instant coffee processing factory in the entire Indochina region.

1975 - Bien Hoa Coffee Factory

When Vietnam was unified, Coronel's family returned to France. They handed over the Factory to the Provisional Government of the Republic of South Vietnam. Coronel Coffee Factory was renamed Bien Hoa Coffee Factory and assigned to the General Department of Food Technology for management. At the time of handover, Coronel Coffee Factory had not yet had a successful trial run because although he was very passionate about his work, as an agricultural engineer, Mr. Marcel Coronel had not found a way to "tame" the complex chain system including many instant coffee processing machines and equipment.

1977 – Vietnam successfully produced instant coffee

On the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of Vietnam's reunification, the first batch of instant coffee was released to the joy of all employees of the Factory. During the previous two years, the team of engineers and workers worked together day and night to explore and research to be able to successfully operate the factory. The Year 1977 marked an important milestone for Bien Hoa Coffee Factory and also for the Vietnamese coffee industry: for the first time, Vietnam successfully produced instant coffee.

1978 – Vietnamese coffee exported abroad

1983 – Vinacafé brand was born

During the 1980s, Bien Hoa Coffee Factory both researched technical improvements to build standard production processes and produced instant coffee for export according to state orders. Along with the production address listed on each product packaging, the name "Vinacafe" began to appear in the Eastern European market starting in 1983, marking the birth of the Vinacafé brand.

In the late 1980s, Vinacafé instant coffee orders increasingly decreased, along with the unfavorable pace of the socialist system in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. In 1990, Vinacafé officially returned to the Vietnamese market even though some products of Bien Hoa Coffee Factory had previously been consumed in this market.

1993 – 3-in-1 instant coffee was born

When returning to Vietnam, it was difficult for the products of Bien Hoa Coffee Factory to find a foothold, because before that the Vietnamese coffee market had been shaped by the habit of drinking mixed roasted and ground coffee (a consequence of the policy of blocking rivers and banning markets, leading to a shortage of coffee). raw coffee, people have to add corn and many other additives to the coffee).

1998 – Second factory

1998 marked an important milestone in outstanding growth. The second instant coffee processing factory was started construction right on the premises of the old factory. This factory has a design capacity of 800 tons of instant coffee/year, 10 times larger than the old factory. Only 2 years later, the new factory was officially put into operation to meet the increasing demand of the domestic and export markets.

Year 2004 – Vinacafé Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company

On December 29, 2004, Bien Hoa Coffee Factory changed its business type - from a state-owned enterprise to a joint stock company. Loving their brainchild, plus the popularity of the Vinacafé brand, the founding shareholders (mostly people of Bien Hoa Coffee Factory) gave the company a new name: VINACAFÉ BIEN HOA Joint Stock Company (Vinacafe BH). This is also the time to open a new chapter in the Company's history when it re-plans its development strategy, rewrites its mission, new vision and determines its core values, in the context of Vietnam's international economic integration.
