Timeline of Establishment & Development
The company was established on July 23, 2007 with the goal of implementing air transport operations with a new generation of low-cost airline models providing services according to passengers' needs. Important milestones for the Company's business operations are presented below:
2007
- Vietjet was granted Air Transport Business Registration Certificate No. 01/0103018458 and is the first private airline in Vietnam licensed to operate on domestic and international routes
2011
- On December 24, 2011, Vietjet launched the first commercial flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi
2012
- By the end of 2012, Vietjet operated a fleet of 5 aircraft and operated 10 domestic routes
2013
- On February 10, 2013, Vietjet launched its first international flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok, Thailand
- On August 19, 2013, Vietjet signed a cooperation agreement with Lufthansa Technik AG. Lufthansa Technik will provide Vietjet with leading technology solutions, maintenance services, consulting on technical projects, technical training for employees and other consulting services
- Expanding operations at the second operating base, Noi Bai airport, Hanoi
- By the end of 2013, Vietjet reached 20.2% of the domestic aviation market share
2014
- Expanding operations at the third mining base in Da Nang
- On February 11, 2014, Vietjet signed a contract to buy 100 Airbus aircraft at the air show taking place in Singapore
- On November 25, 2014, in Toulouse, Vietjet received the first A320 aircraft in the order of 100 aircraft from Airbus
- At the end of 2014, Vietjet's fleet included 19 aircraft and reached 29.6% of the domestic aviation market share
2015
- On January 25, 2015, Vietjet inaugurated the Training Center. This Training Center helps Vietjet conduct personnel training activities more effectively and promptly provide human resources for the Company's growth needs
- In April 2015, Vietjet was granted IOSA certification by the International Air Transport Association. IOSA is an internationally recognized assessment standard that evaluates an airline's management and operational control system. Vietjet Air is one of 390 IOSA certified airlines in the world. What's even more special is that there aren't many LCC airlines that meet IOSA standards. IOSA certificate is considered a "passport" for VietJet's integration into international aviation airspace as well as eligibility to join IATA
- At the end of 2015, Vietjet's fleet included 30 aircraft and reached 37.1% of Vietnam's aviation market share.
2016
- On February 17, 2016, Vietjet and Airbus signed an agreement to establish an Airbus training center in Vietnam. At the same time, signed a strategic partnership contract with SR Technics Group (Switzerland) to provide aircraft spare parts and repair and maintenance services for aircraft. A320/A321
- On May 23, 2016, Vietjet and Boeing signed a contract to order 100 B737 MAX 200 aircraft. On the same day, Vietjet and Pratt & Whitney of United Technologies Corp. (USA) also signed a contract to provide PurePower Geared Turbofan engines and fleet repair and maintenance services to equip the new generation A320 NEO and A321 NEO aircraft fleet
- On June 1, 2016, Vietjet launched the Ho Chi Minh City - Kuala Lumpur route in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
- On June 2, 2016, Vietjet and Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank signed a long-term credit contract to finance the purchase of new Airbus A320 aircraft. Military Bank is the first domestic bank to provide long-term credit for aircraft ownership of Vietjet
- On June 4, 2016, at the Conference "Hanoi 2016: Investment and Development Cooperation", Vietjet was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister for its achievements in production and business, making positive contributions to the economic and social development of the City, and contributing to the cause of building and protecting the Organization. country
- June 2016: Overcoming many strong domestic brands, Vietjet entered the Top 500 leading brands in Asia 2016
- On June 10, 2016, Vietjet opened the Hanoi - Tuy Hoa route
- On June 22, 2016, Vietjet launched international flights from Ho Chi Minh City - Tainan
- On June 30, 2016, Vietjet signed a cooperation agreement with Incheon Tourism Administration - ITO (Korea). Cooperating to bring products, services, and convenient travel and tourism opportunities for Vietnamese people to Korea
- On July 1, 2016, Vietjet launched flights from Thanh Hoa - Nha Trang
- In August 2016, Vietjet was honored as Asia's Best Recruitment Brand in 2016 by the Employer Branding Institute (EBI), World HRD Congress & Stars of the Industry Group
- In August 2016, Vietjet officially became a member of IATA
- In early September 2016, in Hong Kong, Vietjet held an official announcement ceremony to open the Ho Chi Minh City - Hong Kong route, meeting the travel and transportation needs of people and tourists, contributing to promoting trade and integration in the region
- On September 6, 2016, Vietjet and Airbus signed an order to buy 20 more new generation A321 CEO and NEO aircraft worth 2.39 billion USD. These 20 new aircraft are expected to be delivered between 2017 and 2020

Summary of the Company's charter capital increase process
- 2007: Established with charter capital of 600,000 (million VND).
- May 2013: Charter capital increased from 200,000 (million VND) to 800,000 (million VND), through the form of issuing shares to existing shareholders, ratio 3:1.
- March 2015: Charter capital increased from 200,000 (million VND) to 1,000,000 (million VND), through stock dividends, at a rate of 25%.
- October 2015: Charter capital increased from 450,000 (million VND) to 1,450,000 (million VND), through cash dividends, ratio 100:45; Issue shares to existing shareholders, 45% ratio (and offset against cash dividends mentioned above).
- June 2016: Charter capital increased from 550,000 (million VND) to 2,000,000 (million VND), through the form of issuing shares to existing shareholders from equity capital, ratio 100:33 (bonus shares); Issued 7,150,000 shares to employees under the employee option program.
- September 2016: Charter capital increased from 500,000 (million VND) to 2,500,000 (million VND), through cash dividends, rate of 25%; Issue shares to existing shareholders at a rate of 25% (and offset against cash dividends mentioned above)
