- The company was founded in 1992 as the Maritime Development Company, under the Vietnam Maritime Administration - Ministry of Transport, the Company has a 23-year history of business development in the field of maritime services and supporting activities.
- In 2004, the Company was equitized into a Joint Stock Company, with The name is Maritime Development Joint Stock Company, charter capital is 40,000,000,000 VND. Vimadeco is currently a subsidiary of Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines), and is also a member of the Vietnam Ship Brokers and Agents Association (VISABA), the Vietnam Forwarding Association (VIFFAS), and the Vietnam Logistics Association (VLA). The Company's headquarters is located in Hai Phong City with branches in main ports and big cities such as Hanoi, City. Ho Chi Minh, Vung Tau and Ha Long (Quang Ninh).
- October 1, 2015: The company was approved to list on HNX with the stock code VMS
- October 20, 2015: The first trading day of VMS on HNX with a closing price of 16,000 VND/share
