Establishment History:
- The predecessor of the current Company was established on the basis of taking over the fleet and shipping lines left by the old regime.
- On May 26, 1975, according to decision No. 16/VP/QD/TC, the General Department of Transport decided to establish "Southern Vietnam Ocean Shipping Company" (Southern Vietnam Ocean Shipping Company), abbreviated name "SOVOSCO".
- On December 7, 1976, according to Decision No. 4683/QD-TC of the Minister of Transport, the Southern Vietnam Shipping Company (SOVOSCO) was identified as a transport enterprise under the Vietnam Seaway Administration.
- On June 4, 1983, the Minister of Transport issued Decision No. 1251/QD-TCCB Deciding Sovosco Transport Company to belong to the Vietnam Seaport Administration. On March 14, 1984, the Shipping and Chartering Company "Transchart" and "Sovosco Shipping Company" were merged into the Vietnam Shipping and Chartering Company (Vitranscart) under the Vietnam Seaway Administration according to Decision No. 706/TCCB of the Minister of Transport.
- On March 11, 1993, the Ministry of Transport issued the re-establishment of the state-owned enterprise Vietnam Sea Transport and Chartering Company under the Vietnam Maritime Administration under Decision No. 377/QD-TCCB-LD with the international transaction name: Vietnam Sea Transport and Chartering Company (VITRANSCHART).
- On April 29, 1995, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 250/TTg to establish Vietnam Maritime Corporation, according to which Vietnam Shipping and Chartering Company is one of the member enterprises under Vietnam Maritime Corporation.
- On December 11, 2007, the Company held a General Meeting of Shareholders to establish and officially name Vietnam Shipping and Chartering Joint Stock Company - Abbreviated name: Vitranschart JSC today.\
- 2010: The company increased its charter capital to 589,993,370,000 VND to serve production and business expansion activities
- In 2017: The company issued 2,000,000 shares to swap debt for Vietnam Debt Trading Company Limited, increasing charter capital from 589,993,370,000 VND to 609,993,370,000 VND.
- 2018: The company focuses all resources to stabilize and overcome financial difficulties and business obstacles. In 2018, Vietnam National Shipping Lines Corporation (VINALINES) divested capital from Vietnam Shipping and Chartering Joint Stock Company - Vitranschart JSC down to 48.99% of the Company's charter capital.
